Family, Fantasy, and Fate: The Thrilling Adventure of Mexican Gold

In the heart of Los Angeles, five down-and-out individuals receive life-changing letters from an executor in Guatemala. The letters claim that each of them has an inheritance from their estranged, deceased father. It’s an offer that’s hard to ignore, but the kicker? These five people have never met—and once they do, they discover they’re all related. Same father, different mothers. What starts as a simple inheritance claim quickly spirals into something far wilder: a quest for Aztec treasure, a curse released upon Guatemala, and an adventure none of them could’ve imagined.

When the executor of their father’s estate reveals part of a treasure map, the group is sent on a journey to find the remaining pieces, which will lead them to Montezuma’s legendary gold. But, as with all great treasure hunts, there’s a twist. Along with the map comes a warning: a curse has been unleashed, one that has opened a portal to another dimension. Hair-raising tales circulate about demons, imps, and creatures that hunt down anyone who dares to follow the map’s clues.

The Stakes: Family, Fortune, and Fate

As the group embarks on their journey through the Guatemalan jungle, it’s clear this won’t be a straightforward hunt for treasure. They must contend with ancient gods—Kukulkan, the god of wind and storms, and Quetzalcoatl, the god of mutation. Alongside this, they face modern-day adversaries: a relentless game hunter and his mute girlfriend, a Texas oil tycoon with money to burn, and, in a surprising twist, the appearance of the Predator in a comedic role. Will the Predator be friend or foe? That’s part of the wild ride that awaits.

Despite the action and supernatural elements, Mexican Gold poses a fundamental question: Is blood thicker than water? Can a family that has never been part of each other’s lives forge a bond strong enough to survive this ordeal? It’s a story of family, loyalty, and whether shared blood can truly create a lasting connection.

The Adventure Begins

Inspired by the PC game Serious Sam, Mexican Gold blends the pulse-pounding excitement of Indiana Jones with the sharp, cynical humor of Midnight Run. It’s a film that brings out the childlike sense of adventure in anyone who watches, inviting audiences to escape their everyday lives and dive into a fantastical world where ancient curses and treasure hunts collide.

I began developing this story in 2007, but put it on hold when my mother became ill. After her passing, I returned to the project, infusing it with personal themes of family, loss, and redemption. As I pull out all the stops—skull spiders, Aztec gods, and a few curveballs along the way—Mexican Gold promises to be a high-octane ride packed with action, mystery, and laughs.

I have chosen "Cumbia Sobre El Río" by Celso Piña as the perfect song for Mexican Gold. Its infectious rhythm and energy perfectly capture the adventurous spirit and cultural essence of the film, adding a vibrant layer to the story as the characters embark on their wild journey.
