RECENT PROJECTS
This film, Home by the Sea, is my salute to classic romance novels from the Victorian Age, reimagined for the present day. Inspired by The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, John Carpenter's The Fog, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, it crafts a narrative that blends ghostly horrors with an epic love story. The plot unfolds with characters from three different timelines clashing within a haunting setting. As these disparate worlds collide, the film explores the notion that the horrors of the past are never truly left behind but continue to influence the present.
This film follows the wife of a Federal Agent who becomes stranded on an uncharted island with a most-wanted killer. She must use her survival skills to stay alive as she confronts the island’s dangers. Meanwhile, back in the States, a team of experts races against time to solve the mystery of the killer’s identity. Their only clue is a partial audio recording of the killer’s voice. All hope is pinned on a young, physically handicapped linguistics expert with an extraordinary talent for deciphering voices. As tensions rise, the pursuit of the truth unfolds in a thrilling battle against the clock.
The film is inspired by the intriguing relationship between witches and religious beliefs. I discovered that while witches acknowledge the existence of God and Christ and accept the Bible, they intentionally choose not to follow its laws. This contradiction deeply fascinated me and became the foundation for the story. In The Lady of Lacrimosa, the central witch faces a unique consequence for her misuse of power—a persistent, bleeding scar that marks her body. This distinctive element adds depth to the narrative and creates a compelling visual for the film.
This film, XOXO My Love, is based on a true story where a close family member was scammed out of their inheritance and ended up in a rest home, nearly losing their life. Inspired by their journal, the film follows three hackers hired to find the scammers who ruined a lawyer's daughter. They uncover more than they expected, highlighting the severe impact of financial fraud. The title, taken from a gift card my family member signed for an imaginary person, encapsulates the story’s poignant and unsettling elements.
This film, The Tempest, follows Gracie Vidal, a successful businesswoman who hires the mysterious Aaron Ra as her bodyguard after a traumatic robbery. As Aaron uncovers a deadly threat to Gracie’s life, mob bosses from the Southern Border arrive to capture him. Gracie's discovery of Aaron’s true identity forces her to make life-changing decisions.
I wrote The Tempest out of frustration with the repetitive and unimaginative bodyguard films that have flooded the screen in recent years. This film explores themes of past traumas, broken families, and the search for happiness, offering a fresh and intense take on the genre. A sequel, The Tempest: Phoenix War, is already in the works.
This film, On Holy Ground, follows an 8-year-old girl as she experiences a life-changing event while watching her grandmother, Iris, pass away from an incurable disease. Based on true events leading up to my mother's passing from dementia, the docudrama explores how Iris, aware of her impending death, strives to reunite her fractured family through faith and prayer. As tensions give way to profound changes, Jia, the granddaughter, learns that death is a natural part of life, solidifying her spiritual beliefs through a miraculous encounter. This deeply personal project, incorporating actual dialogue from my mother during her moments of clarity, is currently in post-production.
